Relaxed Performances

The Relaxed Performances will be held on 10 and 11 February 2023 at the Tea House Theatre in Xiqu Centre for the first time. The performances will be presented by the Tea House Rising Stars Troupe. Unlike the general xiqu performance, the performance is supported with a range of access services. The relaxed theatre setting also supports people with and without disabilities to enjoy the performance without pressure. 

Access Provisions of the Performance: 

  1. The house rules are relaxed, audience may exit and re-enter the theatre freely. 
  2. To minimise potential triggers for audience who are sensitive to strong lights or sound effects, the volume of lighting and sound are adjusted. 
  3. The programme is designed for audience of different age ranges. 
  4. The performance is supported with access services including audio description, theatrical interpretation, accessible seating for wheelchair users and companions, and welcomes audience bringing guide dogs and guide dogs in training to enjoy the performance together. 
  5. The house programme is designed with reference to the principles of easy-to-read information, and will be shared with audience prior to the performance, facilitating the audience to understand the performance arrangement in advance. 
  6. Surtitles in Chinese and English for the performance is available to ensure a meaningful and authentic traditional xiqu experience for audience.  
  7. Audience may request a portable service bell to contact staff members when assistance is needed during the performance.

Terms and Conditions: 

  1. Registration is free of charge, interested organisations/ schools/ individuals have to register for tickets on or before 27 January 2023 (Fri). Limited quota is available on a first-come, first-served basis, with priority given to organisations/ schools in Yau Tsim Mong District, and individuals living, working or studying in the Yau Tsim Mong District.  
  2. No notifications will be sent to unsuccessfully registered organisations/ schools/ individuals. 
  3. Each organisation/ school can register for a maximum of 20 tickets, the actual number of tickets allocated depends on the number of organisations/ schools registering for the tickets; each individual can register for a maximum of 2 tickets. Organisations/ schools/ individuals must provide a valid mobile number and an email address for the registration, repeated registrations under the same mobile number or email address will not be accepted. 
  4. Seating arrangement is made by the organisers. 
  5. A confirmation email with ticket collecting details will be sent to successfully registered organisations/ schools/ individuals one week prior to the performance. 
  6. The organisers reserve the right to take photos, videos and voice recordings during the performance for the purposes of corporate and marketing event promotion, reporting and documentation. 
  7. Adverse weather arrangement: If a Black Rainstorm Warning/ a No. 8 typhoon or above is hoisted or is considered to be issued by the Hong Kong Observatory three hours prior to the performance, the performance will be cancelled regardless of the cancelling time of the signals. 
  8. The organisers reserve the right to reschedule or cancel the performance complying the latest Government recommendation on COVID-19 pandemic situation and social distancing measures.  
  9. In case of disputes, the organisers reserve the rights of final decision, including changing details of the performance and its terms and conditions.
